Mike Brown accepted the blame for the New York Knicks’ loss to the Chicago Bulls, and Jalen Brunson believes the rest of the squad must rally behind him.

The New York Knicks haven’t gotten off to the best start this season, going 3-3 after their loss to the Chicago Bulls.

The Knicks’ lack of bench scoring came back to haunt them again, as they had 8 players combine for just 46 points off the bench.

Mike Brown dismissed Jalen Brunson’s injury concerns last week. And while his 31-point outing put those concerns to bed, the performance wasn’t enough to get them a win.

And after the game, Mike Brown had a moment of reflection and chose to accept responsibility for their poor run of form.

Mike Brown admits he hasn’t helped New York Knicks in recent games

Mike Brown spoke after the New York Knicks’ latest loss to the Chicago Bulls. He believes he hasn’t done right by his players over the last few games.

Brown added that he needs to be clearer and more consistent with his rotations, as failing to do so has forced his players to lose their rhythm during games.

“It starts with me because I gotta help them. With Josh coming back, with Mitch coming back, the different things that those guys present in terms of minutes…

“I didn’t help a ton last couple of games. I was all over the map with substitutions, so it was hard for those guys to get rhythm.

“I have to do a better job, and thought I did tonight, of trying to have a rotation & stick with it while still playing 9.5-10 guys…

“I have to continue to help them get comfortable in that area because we have guys that can come off the bench and make plays and knock down shots.”

Jalen Brunson says New York Knicks players must support Mike Brown

Responding to Mike Brown’s comments after the game, Jalen Brunson admitted that they have Mike Brown’s back, and the players need to step up and deliver for him.

“Mike’s going to make the decisions, and no matter what he does, we’re going to have his back. Regardless of what he does, and whoever is in there, we gotta be ready to go.

“We can’t ease in. Obviously, with shooting the ball comes a rhythm, but there are other things that come in the game of basketball. So, if he says that, great. But we gotta have each other’s backs.”

Brunson and the Knicks seem to have embraced playing under Mike Brown, even though their start to the season hasn’t been ideal.

The Knicks players have adjusted well to Brown’s offense, but they need to start translating their performances into winning basketball.
