Jalen Brunson Reacts to Knicks Coaching News Regarding His Father

Despite this, the Knicks are still searching for a new head coach after firing Tom Thibodeau after their playoff exit but they have reportedly narrowed down their search as former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Brown has emerged as the frontrunner for the position.

While the Knicks are still searching for a replacement for Thibodeau, there was a major report regarding their coaching staff for next season that came out on Tuesday.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Rick Brunson, Jalen’s father, is expected to remain as part of the Knicks’ coaching staff next season.

“The Stein Line has learned that Rick Brunson, father of Knicks star Jalen Brunson, is expected to remain part of the Knicks' coaching staff…Same is expected for some other key holdovers from Thibodeau's staff,” Stein wrote.

This is massive news for the Knicks and it also caused Jalen to post his reaction on social media following the report.

“WHAT?!” Jalen posted on X following Stein’s report regarding his father.

Of course, this was a sarcastic reaction by Jalen as there is no doubt that he is excited that his father is set to return to the coaching staff next season despite a new head coach taking over.

Rick has been an assistant coach for the Knicks since 2022, the same season that they signed Jalen in free agency.

While Rick will be returning to the Knicks next season to coach the team and his son, New York still has a massive decision to make regarding the next head coach of their franchise.
