Phoenix Suns star Jalen Green had his first dunk with his new team on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers. It has been a while since fans saw Green soar in the air for a dunk. Fortunately for the star guard, he saw an opportunity and took the chance to put on a show.

The Suns dealt with a devastating 92-77 loss to the Blazers. Phoenix had a shorthanded squad against Portland, as Devin Booker, Cole Anthony, Dillon Brooks, Grayson Allen, Haywood Highsmith and Jordan Goodwin. Due to the injuries the squad has suffered, Green decided to increase his offensive output.

After making his first dunk for the Suns, he revealed how he felt after making the highlight.

“That felt good. I feel like I was supposed to get a dunk a while ago,” Green said.

Jalen Green has been limited to 10 games this season due to a hamstring strain. He missed the first eight games of the 2025-26 season and debuted on Nov. 6. However, he was out of the lineup after two games and did not play until Jan. 20.

Since then, he’s been on a minutes restriction, and the Suns have been carefully inserting him into the lineup.

“Second night of a back-to-back. You’re expected to be a little gassed. Last night was a longer game than usual with the double OT, but that’s no excuse.”

Jalen Green accepts the challenge of doing more for the Suns amid the injuries

Without the Suns’ two best scorers, Booker and Brooks, Jalen Green is tasked to carry more load on offense. Although he’s still finding his footing, as he’s recovering from injury, he has no complaints.

“I’ve never going to complain about having the opportunity to be that. It’s just more I got to get my wind and legs underneath me. Seems like every game my legs are getting heavier and heavier, but that’s part of it. I’m starting from the beginning. We got a lot of time and hopefully I’ll pick up sooner than later,” he said.

The Suns’ next game is on Tuesday against the Orlando Magic.
