Former NBA MVP James Harden made the rounds on Saturday for all the wrong reasons. Harden, who helped the Cleveland Cavaliers all the way to the 2026 Eastern Conference finals, was arrested on Saturday.
The Harris County District Clerk records show that Harden was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon. He received a misdemeanor charge for having a firearm inside his vehicle.
The 36-year-old was taken into custody early in the morning. Authorities released him after the arrest.
NBC News reported that the veteran shooting guard was “ordered not to possess any weapons or consume alcohol or drugs and must submit to random urine tests,” according to court documents.
Harden joined the Cleveland Cavaliers ahead of the 2026 trade deadline. He joined a team with big aspirations and helped it overachieve until the New York Knicks swept them in the ECF.
He will likely extend his stay with the team this offseason, despite a shaky performance against the New Yorkers.
