Jared Dudley joining Mavericks coaching staff

The Dallas Mavericks made headlines last week by hiring two-time WNBA champion Kristi Toliver as an assistant coach.

Toliver isn't the only champ who will be working alongside head coach Jason Kidd during the upcoming NBA season.

Per Andrew Lopez of ESPN, 14-year NBA veteran Jared Dudley took to Twitter Tuesday to confirm he's retiring as an active player and joining Kidd's staff:

Dudley earned his one and only ring in the Association as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers squad that won the 2020 NBA Finals. Kidd was an assistant coach for that same team and held that role with the Lakers for the last two seasons before he accepted the Dallas job in late June.

Dudley averaged 7.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game in 904 regular-season contests during his lengthy career.
