The Los Angeles Lakers stunned the NBA world when they were able to acquire Luka Doncic in a trade a couple of weeks before the trade deadline. It's a trade that is still affecting the rosters of the Lakers and the Mavericks today.

Dallas traded their star player just a year after he led them to the NBA Finals. Instead of riding with him and what he was able to do for the franchise, he was shipped to Los Angeles.

Now, the Lakers have a new face of the franchise that they can grow with for the next decade. He is someone that Rob Pelinka will have to build a roster around.

Jeanie Buss talked about the fact that she has not been able to give Anthony Davis a proper goodbye once the trade was executed. It's something she was looking forward to doing this summer.

Mavs coach Jason Kidd was recently asked if he has spoken to Doncic since the trade was made. Kidd revealed during an interview with the Dan Patrick Show that he has not spoken to the star guard yet.

“I texted him that morning, and that’s the last time I’ve talked to him. I don’t think he was too happy. From the experience of being traded, maybe being surprised, upset. Feelings are high. But I loved the opportunity of coaching Luka. He’s an incredible person, and we all know his talent. He’s one of the best in the world.”

Doncic was clearly not happy when the trade was made. He was crying when he faced the Mavericks in Dallas for the first time since the trade, when they gave him a tribute video.

Doncic has tried his best to move on from the trade. His future is now tied to the Los Angeles Lakers, and he is going to do his best to win a title for them now that he's in LA.

In his first season with the Lakers, Doncic averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 assists, and 7.5 rebounds per game. He shot 43.8 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from beyond the three-point arc.
