Jason Kidd Was Asked Straight Up Who The Mavs Are Drafting

The entire Mavs organization appears to be in lockstep when it comes to who the team will select with its No. 1 pick.

After winning the NBA's Draft Lottery with just a 1.8% chance, ESPN's Tim MacMahon reported that Dallas already made its decision on who the franchise will take with the top selection this summer.

"After making the biggest leap in NBA draft lottery history to land the No. 1 overall pick, the Dallas Mavericks plan to select Duke forward Cooper Flagg and will not entertain the possibility of trading away the pick for a proven superstar," MacMahon shared to ESPN.com.

Adding, "Sources told ESPN that Patrick Dumont, who just finished his first year as the Mavs' governor, considers the opportunity to be in position to draft a generational talent such as Flagg a 'gift.'"

And while head coach Jason Kidd stopped just short of naming Flagg when asked who the Mavericks will draft first overall, he admitted to longtime NBA writer Marc Stein: "We love that kid from Duke."

The Mavs haven't been too shy about their plans, nor should they be.

After trading away Luka Doncic just a few months ago, Nico Harrison and the team received the best gift they could possibly get from the basketball gods — outside of Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis' health.

Of course, Flagg has a long way to go before he can prove that the Mavericks made the right move getting rid of Doncic.

But he seemingly has all the tools that'll make him a high-impact pro out on the wing that could help bring championships to Dallas.
