Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown went off on Saturday about an incident he had with authorities in the city of Beverly Hills after an event he was supposed to host was canceled minutes before it even started.

The five-time All-Star was scheduled to attend a panel session that was expected to be attended by hundreds of guests. It was part of his stay in Los Angeles, where he played in the All-Star Game. He said the agenda was to talk about leadership and culture.

He turned to X to express his displeasure over the development, calling the city “trash” and that he was offended by their actions.

Brown also posted about the incident on Instagram. The clip showed that he was already at the venue when Beverly Hills police officers arrived and told him the event could not continue because they did not have a permit.

The Celtics star tried to get a clearer explanation from the police, saying they did not need one, according to the venue owner. However, the officers did not provide a clear response.

"It's beyond my pay grade," the cop replied as Brown tried to confirm from him that it was the city who shut down the event.

The City of Beverly Hills released a statement regarding the incident and stood firm on their actions.

"An event permit had been applied for and denied by the City due to previous violations associated with events at the address. Despite the fact that the permit was denied, organizers still chose to proceed with inviting hundreds of guests knowing that it was not allowed to occur. BHPD responded and shut down the unpermitted event."

Brown rejected that claim. He told reporters during the All-Star Game that there was no permit application to begin with. He also said the event was sanctioned by the owner of the venue, with whom he has a professional relationship.
