Jaylen Brown Gets Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to Bite With Ridiculous Move, and Can’t Hold Back the Smile

Jaylen Brown may hate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s antics, but he sure knows how to copy his opponent’s movements and use them in a game.

Sure enough, Brown, despite having a stellar season, isn’t really getting superstar calls from the referees. Sans Jayson Tatum for the majority of this season, the 29-year-old has emerged as a true number one option for the Boston Celtics. He’s balling out and defending well, too, often guarding the best scorer on opposing teams.

But on this particular night, Jaylen Brown used Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s controversial move, resulting in a made basket plus a foul.

And the smile after? That was hilarious coming from Brown. Most importantly, the Boston Celtics snapped the Oklahoma City Thunder’s 12-game winning streak, 119-109. Jaylen Brown led Boston with 31 points. Jayson Tatum had 19.

OKC was paced by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s 33 points. Lu Dort chipped in with 14 markers. They truly missed Chet Holmgren in this game.

But it’s safe to say that pitting both teams in a seven-game series would be a lot of fun.

Jaylen Brown Adapting to the Free Throw Manipulation Game Lately

The four-time all-star lamented that some players are blatantly trying to manipulate games through foul baiting. He hates that narrative, considering that he normally earns his trips to the free-throw line.

But for Jaylen Brown, he’s slowly adapting a part of his game to hunt for fouls from different angles. And against the Phoenix Suns more than a week ago, the Celtics star went on to take 21 free throws, making 19, a career high.

Are the tides slowly turning differently for Brown? It seems to be heading that way. He’s on a career year too, averaging 28-7-5 splits each game for Boston. And with Tatum’s unexpected early return, the Celtics have looked extremely dangerous heading into the 2026 playoffs.
