Jaylen Brown was out of action for the Boston Celtics on Wednesday due to multiple injuries. The 29-year-old was dealing with tightness in his left hamstring and a sore right knee, forcing him to sit out the game against the Houston Rockets.

The Celtics still defeated the Rockets despite Brown’s absence. Derrick White (28 points, six triples, eight assists) and Payton Pritchard (27 points, five threes, seven assists) led the charge as Boston took down Kevin Durant and Co., 114-93.

The Celtics improved to 33-18 after the win against Houston. That victory marked Boston’s fourth consecutive win. As of writing, they are third in the Eastern Conference, tied with the New York Knicks with the same record.

The Celtics are back in action on Friday. They return home to TD Garden to host the Miami Heat. Boston already submitted its initial injury report for Friday’s contest, and the good news is that Brown was not listed.

This means that, barring any unforeseen setbacks from now until tip-off, Brown should be good to go against the Heat on Friday. He will return after a one-game injury absence.

It is worth noting that Wednesday’s game was the tail end of a back-to-back set, which may have influenced Boston’s decision to give Brown the night off.

Either way, he should be back on the court on Friday. He has been the Celtics’ best player this season, averaging 29.5 points on 48.6% shooting, 7.0 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.0 steals in 34.3 minutes of action. Brown is also knocking down 2.2 triples per game on a 36.3% clip.

The 6-foot-6 small forward was rewarded for his strong play with another All-Star selection. Brown will play in the upcoming All-Star Game for the fourth consecutive year and for a fifth time in his career.
