Jaylen Brown Voices One Disagreement With Celtics

Jaylen Brown has had quite the story with the Boston Celtics. He went from a high lottery pick coming off the bench for a playoff team to becoming the NBA Finals MVP in an eight-year span.

In that time, he has had to go from bench player to starter, back to bench player, to full-time starter, to perennial All-Star. Brown has had to sacrifice shots and touches in the past because he played next to other All-Stars like Jayson Tatum, Kyrie Irving, Kemba Walker, and Gordon Hayward.

Even so, Brown has made four All-Star teams, one All-NBA second team, and helped the Celtics reach six Eastern Conference Finals, two NBA Finals, and an NBA title in addition to winning both NBA Finals MVP and Eastern Conference Finals MVP.

Even though he has made those sacrifices, that doesn't mean he always agrees with the roles Boston has given him through the years. In an exclusive interview with CelticsBlog's Noa Dalzell, Brown revealed that he hasn't always agreed with the role the Celtics have wanted him to adapt to, but he knows what's best for the team.

“I disagree with a lot of things,” Brown told Dalzell. “I’ve had to change roles, styles. I’ve had to do things that other players of my talent just haven’t had to do, and I’ve been okay with them, because I’ve always been a team guy. I feel like sometimes that gets taken for granted.”

With Jayson Tatum out indefinitely this coming season, Brown will have a new role as the Celtics' lead player. It's one he is embracing.

“I feel like I’m very talented,” Brown added. “I’m one of the talented people in this league, on this planet, I feel like. I’m looking forward to showing the world more.”
