The Boston Celtics defeated the Charlotte Hornets, 130-94, on Friday to notch their 60th win of the season.
The Celtics tallied 60 wins for the 15th time in history and the first in back-to-back campaigns since 2007-08 and 2008-09, according to a report from the Associated Press.
It was a balanced attack for Boston, which had six players in double-digit scoring, led by the 20 points of Payton Pritchard. Sam Hauser added 20 markers built on seven three-pointers.
Jaylen Brown sat out again for the Celtics due to a bone bruise in his right knee that has bothered him this season. His status is a cause for concern for the Celtics as they enter the playoffs.
According to a report from ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, the reigning Finals MVP has already made a critical decision regarding his situation.
"(Brown) received pain management injections in his troublesome right knee this week in an effort to promote healing before Boston begins its title defense, league sources told ESPN," wrote Shelburne.
"Brown is expected to be ready for the start of the Celtics' first-round playoff series either April 19 or 20, sources said."
While the Celtics have the depth to defend their crown, the 28-year-old Brown remains a key piece with his two-way talent and as the running mate of fellow All-Star Jayson Tatum. Brown is averaging 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and a career-high 4.5 assists per game.
He suited up on Tuesday in their win over the New York Knicks but only had six points in 22 minutes.
He is already ineligible for any individual award since he won't reach the 65-game threshold set by the NBA.
Shelburne noted that Brown has been urged by his teammates to prioritize his health and not rush anything before the playoffs.
"He always preaches his warrior mindset," said Kristaps Porzingis in the same report. "He lives by it. But to what extent do we need that right now?
"Maybe he needs to take care of it and make sure he's going to be ready for the most important moment."
