Jaylin Galloway Signs One-Year Deal With Cairns Taipans

Three-time NBL champion Jaylin Galloway has signed a one-year contract with the Cairns Taipans, the Australian team announced in a press release.

The 23-year-old wing reached a mutual agreement with the Sydney Kings earlier this week to release him from his contract. Galloway averaged 9.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 22.3 minutes per game across 39 appearances with Sydney in 2025/26, helping the Kings win another NBL title in the spring.

The Australian-born guard/forward will reunite with his older brother, forward Kyrin Galloway, and head coach Adam Forde, who recruited him to Sydney in 2020.

“I signed with Cairns because I wanted a bigger role and opportunity,” Galloway said. “I also wanted to play alongside Kyrin, who I haven’t played with since 2023 at an NBL1 level with Ipswich, when we won the title.

“I’m excited to play for Fordey (Adam Forde), who gave me my first professional contract. … It just felt like the right fit and system for me, where I hope to bring that championship-standard to.”

Galloway, who went undrafted in 2022 and spent several months on a two-way contract with the Bucks in 2024, had a brief stint with the Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rico after the NBL season ended in 2026.

Multiple NBA evaluators were reportedly keeping a close eye on Galloway at the NBL Blitz last September. He helped the Australian national team win the gold medal at the FIBA Asia Cup last August and expressed a desire at the time to eventually make it back to the NBA.

Galloway is currently recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and will be reevaluated in eight weeks, per the press release.
