Jayson Tatum’s ‘Scary’ Take on Boston Celtics Should Worry Their NBA Rivals
Troy Wayrynen-USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Celtics just dismantled the Portland Trail Blazers, leading them to their 50th win of the season. This prompted Jayson Tatum to drop a hot take that may leave other NBA teams to worry about them.

In that game at the Moda Center, the Celtics made short work of Portland with a score of 121-99. Jaylen Brown led the way by posting 27 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Tatum added 26 points of his own while making five rebounds and eight assists.

Meanwhile, Deandre Ayton notched 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead Portland. Anfernee Simons had 17 points four rebounds, and three assists for a Trail Blazers team that’s projected to miss the playoffs this year.

With that dub against Portland, the Celtics have become the first team in the NBA this season to reach 50 wins. The Trail Blazers, on the other hand, have sunk to an 18-46 record, the second-worst in the Western Conference.

Jayson Tatum’s Bold Take On Boston Celtics And Why NBA Teams Should Take Notice

After the game, Brown and Tatum spoke to the media about Boston’s recent achievement of winning 50 games. The latter, though, made a claim that should worry other teams in the league, as seen in a video shared by Celtics on NBC Sports Boston on X:

While Tatum’s claim may be seen as posturing, it has the element of truth in it. The Celtics’ offense is first in the league and their defense is third among 30 teams. As long as they stay healthy, there’s a chance they can get better, especially in the playoffs.

Whether Tatum’s take happens or not, teams across the league will still pay attention to the Celtics. If it does come true, there’ll a championship on its way to Boston soon.
