The Utah Jazz will look to make it four wins in a row when they host the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. The Raptors will be missing some key pieces heading into the contest.
Jakob Poeltl (ankle) is listed as out, while Pascal Siakam (back) is questionable, and Otto Porter Jr (knee) is doubtful. The Jazz have no reported injuries and will be at full strength.
This will be the second contest of a six-game homestand for Utah. On Wednesday, the Jazz came out on top against the World Champion Denver Nuggets. Jordan Clarkson led the way with 27 points and nine assists.
Clarkson has been much more productive since being moved back to Utah’s sixth man. The Jazz are 8-2 since head coach Will Hardy made the switch, with the former Sixth Man of the Year averaging 19.7 points over that ten-game stretch.
With Utah’s recent surge, they now find themselves tied for the tenth seed and 4.5 games removed from a playoff spot. It appeared Utah was trending for another lottery pick, but everything is up in the air right now.
The trade deadline is now less than a month away, and Utah could be buyers or sellers as we inch closer to February 8. Kelly Olynyk and Clarkson make the most sense to be moved if Utah turns into sellers, but that may not go over well with the fans if Utah continues to climb the standings.
Utah has fourteen games left before the deadline, and how they fair in the current homestand will go a long way in determining what path will be taken. Tip-off tonight is at 7:30 p.m. MST.
