The Jazz are set to bring in free agent center Mo Bamba, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
While the details aren’t yet known, the contract is expected to be a camp-type deal — most likely a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 with possible Exhibit 10 language.
Utah already has 15 players on guaranteed standard contracts, plus two on Exhibit 10s and three on two-way deals. Bamba would make it 21 players overall, the maximum allowed in the offseason.
Bamba, 27, has bounced around since being drafted sixth overall by Orlando in 2018. He spent five years with the Magic before short stints in Philadelphia, the Clippers and the Pelicans.
Utah actually acquired him last season in a salary-dump deal but waived him a day later. Now, he’s getting another look.
Last year, Bamba appeared in 32 games with L.A. and New Orleans, averaging 4.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.0 block in just over 13 minutes a night. For his career, he’s at 6.8 points, 5.4 boards and 1.3 blocks across 364 games.
At 7-foot, he still offers rim protection, length and floor spacing potential — the same tools that made him a lottery pick out of Texas. The question, as always with Bamba, is consistency. For the Jazz, it’s a no-risk flyer heading into camp.
