The Jazz are waiving injured guard Vince Williams Jr. after he suffered a torn ACL in his left knee, according to Kevin Reynolds of the Salt Lake Tribune.
Williams went down in a Feb. 23 game against the Rockets, just his sixth appearance with Utah. The injury ended his 2025-26 season and is expected to sideline him for a significant portion of next season as well.
Utah acquired Williams last month in the deal that also brought Jaren Jackson Jr. over from the Grizzlies. The former second-round pick appeared in six games for the Jazz, averaging 4.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
Originally the 47th overall selection in the 2022 NBA Draft out of Toledo, Williams played 34 games with Memphis earlier this season before the trade. He averaged 8.0 points, 4.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 21.6 minutes.
Williams is earning $2.3 million this season. The Jazz held a $2.5 million team option on his contract for the 2026-27 season.
Utah is opening a roster spot amid a wave of injuries. Jackson, Jusuf Nurkic and Walker Kessler have already been ruled out for the season, while Lauri Markkanen is currently sidelined with a hip injury.
The move leaves the Jazz with 13 players on standard contracts on their 15-man roster. Center Mo Bamba is currently with the team on a 10-day deal.
