Jazz's Donovan Mitchell on Rudy Gobert: 'We're good'

The NBA suspended play on March 11 after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus following some reckless and regrettable behavior:

Utah star Donovan Mitchell also tested positive, which understandably caused tension between the teammates.

Mitchell told reporters on Thursday that's now all water under the bridge:

"Right now we're good. We're going out there ready to hoop. And I think the biggest thing that kind of sucked was that it took away from the guys on the team, took away from what the guys on the team were trying to do and I really wish that as going forward...I think that'll be really the primary focus is just us jelling as a team because obviously, Rudy and I had COVID and whatever happened, happened. But now we're ready to hoop and focused on the team as a whole because we're not really trying to keep taking attention away from what everybody's got going on.

"Obviously, we've got (forward Bojan Bogdanovic) out, so we've got some guys that are really looking good and ready to step up, and that's what we're really excited about."

Bogdanovic suffered a ruptured scapholunate ligament in his right wrist during the league's hiatus and is out for the resumption that is scheduled to tip off on July 30 when Utah faces the New Orleans Pelicans.

There were reports during the spring that things were so sour between Mitchell and Gobert that the Jazz may have to trade one of the players.

As ESPN's Eric Woodyard wrote, however, Jazz executive vice president of basketball operations Dennis Lindsey told reporters in May that Mitchell and Gobert were "ready to put this behind them."

Meanwhile, Gobert recently admitted he's still not fully recovered three months removed from his coronavirus diagnosis.
