The Washington Wizards have made some big moves in the offseason as part of their roster reconstruction
As a result, the franchise has players like CJ McCollum and Cam Whitmore on their roster.
They already had the likes of Khris Middleton and Marcus Smart, but the organization added a few more talented players in the offseason to make them look like an interesting team going into the 2025-26 season.
Just when it seemed like the Washington Wizards had made all the moves, they traded away Kelly Olynyk to the San Antonio Spurs for Blake Wesley, Malaki Branham and a 2026 second-round pick.
Both players that the Wizards added in the trade for Olynyk are guards, a move that a former NBA player did not support due to the wide array of talent the team already had in their backcourt.

Last season, the Wizards finished at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with only 18 wins.
They did not have a lot of strength in their backcourt apart from Jordan Poole as Smart and Malcolm Brogdon were injured for a lot of the games.
This led to the team deciding to bring in a lot of acquisitions in the offseason, but former NBA player Jeff Teague believes they are a bit too overloaded in the backcourt.
Speaking on his podcast, Teague said: “Did you see the trade they made, they added two more guards. What are we doing? Now I’m lost.
“I just don’t know the direction. I would love to talk to somebody from the Wizards organization and ask them. What are they going to do with, six, seven, eight guards.
“And they are all young. I don’t like what they got going on.”
While Teague’s criticism of the Wizards backcourt makes sense, they are a side that has suffered due to injuries and need the necessary backup to compete.
Alongside all the trades, the team also picked Tre Johnson in the draft, who was one of the most talented guards in the NCAA tournament.
He is a brilliant scorer and also shot 39% from three-point range for Texas. If he can carry the same momentum into the league, Johnson will be a player to watch out for.
The presence of veterans like Smart, McCollum and Middleton is also a good thing for the Wizards as all three of them have been a part of good teams.
They can bring the same culture to the Wizards and be role models to the youngsters on the team.

Wizards have been a disappointing franchise in the past few seasons, but they are well set up to have a good campaign now.
If the players on the roster stay fit and their youngsters deliver, they could be a team that can contend for the playoffs.
