Jeff Teague believes Steve Kerr isn’t going to be around much if the Warriors back Jonathan Kuminga for the future.

Many believe that the issues between Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors stem from the treatment the former received from head coach Steve Kerr.

The Warriors coach benched the young star for most of last season. And when he got a chance, Kuminga proved Kerr wrong with great performances.

After the season, Kuminga revealed that Kerr wants him to improve heading into the new season. However, there is doubt about whether Kuminga will even be back on the Warriors.

Jeff Teague believes the Warriors would be foolish not to bring Kuminga back, especially since his prediction for Steve Kerr might come true soon.

Jeff Teague says Steve Kerr will be gone from Golden State Warriors when Stephen Curry leaves

Jeff Teague spoke on his podcast about the Jonathan Kuminga stalemate the Golden State Warriors are facing. He believes that Kerr and Kuminga do not like each other at all.

But the Warriors’ front office can tell Kerr to play him anyway. Then, Teague predicted that Steve Kerr won’t be on the job for too long and will be gone by the time Stephen Curry retires.

“It’s obvious (Jonathan Kuminga and Steve Kerr don’t get along)… He wouldn’t pick him to play. But management can do that; we’ve seen that happen with me when I was with Atlanta.

“They can come in and say, ‘Kuminga is getting 25 minutes a night. You figure that out. I don’t care how he gets them, but he’s getting 25 minutes a night.'”

“Steve Kerr is going to be out of there in a couple of years anyway… They’re gonna let Steve Kerr go. Or Steve Kerr is going to retire, not saying he couldn’t coach another team.

“When Steph leaves, Steve Kerr leaves. He won’t be there. He won’t coach without Stephen Curry.”

Jonathan Kuminga can’t wait around for Steve Kerr to leave

Even if what Jeff Teague is saying about Steve Kerr and Stephen Curry is true, Jonathan Kuminga doesn’t have that much time to waste.

So much of his career has gone by while he rides the bench, hoping to earn some minutes under Kerr’s watchful eye.

However, Kerr has just not been impressed with Kuminga so far. And despite Kuminga’s strong performances, Kerr refuses to let him be a key player.

As a result, it is in the best interest of Kuminga to move on from the Warriors, even if that isn’t immediate, and if it takes a trade a few months later.
