Jeff Teague Says the 2013 Miami Heat Would 'Blow Out' the 2026 Thunder

As the defending champion, the Oklahoma City Thunder is marching forward strongly. However, Jeff Teague revealed why the current OKC couldn’t stand a chance against the 2013 Miami Heat.

Handing the Los Angeles Lakers a 108-90 defeat in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals wasn’t hard for OKC. But had it been the 2013 Bron with his Heat team, Teague knew the story would’ve been different.

“See where I step. LeBron, Heat team,” started the former NBA All-Star. “Oh, no, they know they’re not (beating them) … They don’t stand a chance with them… them Warriors teams, them Cavs teams, them Heat teams, they’re blowing them out.”

Surely the Thunder stands at a 64-18 with Shai Gilgeous Alexander as the frontman and at least 5 players who can shoot double digits. However, the 2013 Bron and the Heat team “would’ve been a different test for sure.”

The big 3 of the 2013 Heat roster were Bron, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. And per Teague, the Bron-Wade duo was practically un-guardable, who won two consecutive championships in the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

But the time of these “Superstars in their prime” has long passed. And Teague had to admit that tackling OKC in their current state would be pretty tough.

Jeff Teague Doesn’t Think the Lakers Can Beat OKC

You can have the best in the league playing in your roster, but basketball would still be a team sport. And the OKC understands it. While they have star power, Teague knew that the team also has deep coordination.

“I think LeBron is good enough to get one game. Just ’cause he is my GOAT. I think OKC is just a machine right now,” Teague said. “The way they’re put together… they play together. They play for one. Defensively, they get after it.”

“I think they’re going to pressure LA full-court the whole series,” he added. “They just got so many guys that they play, and that play so hard. Then, you got SGA, the best player in the league, arguably.”
