The last time Jimmy Butler saw action for the Golden State Warriors was on Jan. 19 against his former team, the Miami Heat. The six-time All-Star was forced to exit that game after injuring his right knee, which was later diagnosed as a season-ending ACL tear.
Butler underwent surgery in February and has since been working hard behind the scenes in his rehab. It’s going to be a long recovery ahead for the 36-year-old as he aims to return at some point next season. Right now, though, there is no firm timetable as to when Butler will be able to get back on the court.
Butler spoke to reporters on Monday to share an update on his rehab. The five-time All-NBA forward appeared to be in good spirits as he opened up about the journey he’s been on over the past couple of months.
Butler, however, also admitted that it has been a difficult road.
"Tough," Butler said. "Not being around my guys [is] hard. Not being able to play the game that I love and not being able to travel. Tough.
"But the rehab has been going. We're doing what we're supposed to be doing to try to get back on the timeline."
Butler decided to join the Warriors on their current six-game road trip. The 6-foot-6 forward shared that he recently got the clearance from his doctors.
"I finally got to fly," he said. "So, I think, I don't know, blood clot, blood thinner, all that good stuff. I got to fly, so I was like, I gotta go be around my guys. I don't give a damn where it's at. If I could be there, I wanted to be here.”

"We're doing what we're supposed to be doing to try to get back on the timeline… whenever my body's ready, I promise I'm trying to get back out there."
