After months of rumors, the Miami Heat finally traded Jimmy Butler. On Wednesday night, just hours before the NBA trade deadline, the Heat traded Butler to the Golden State Warriors.
On Saturday, Butler officially made his Warriors debut. In turn, Golden State got the 132-111 win over the Chicago Bulls on the road.
In Butler's Warriors' debut, he scored 25 points with four assists in 28 minutes, finishing second on the team in scoring behind Stephen Curry.
When Butler stepped onto the floor, he had Butler III on the back of his jersey while rocking #10 after he wore #22 with the Heat.
After the game, Butler was asked why his jersey read Butler III now, per Anthony Slater.
"Because I am the third, and it's actually a year today of the passing of my father," I'm very grateful. That's why I'm Butler III now."
When asked if it was a permanent thing, he said it would be "forever and ever."
