Ahead of the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline, the Golden State Warriors acquired Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat. Immediately after landing Butler, the Warriors established themselves as legitimate title contenders, and they are a team to keep an eye on next season.

Though they have a good outlook for next season, the Warriors still have a lot of questions to answer, mostly regarding Jonathan Kuminga, who remains a free agent.

As it stands, the Congo native's future in Golden State is up in the air, and it remains to be seen what will happen before the start of next season. However, according to ESPN's Tim MacMahon on a recent episode of "The Hoop Collective" podcast, Kuminga is "miserable" in Golden State and does not want to stay with the team.

“He’s miserable; he doesn’t want to be in Golden State,” MacMahon said about Kuminga. “He knows they don’t want him. He doesn’t want to maximize his earnings — he wants to get in a situation where he feels like he can thrive. Whether you agree or disagree about his ability, his talent, he wants to go find out. He’s effed around long enough — now he wants to find out.”

Following MacMahon's reports, it seems that Butler is questioning the Warriors ahead of their title chase next season.

Jimmy Butler Has Questions for Warriors Ahead of Next Season

The 2025-26 NBA season is only about a month away, but the Warriors are still facing a lot of uncertainty. Many are hoping for the team to answer some questions and figure things out before the start of the new campaign, and according to recent reports, this includes Butler.

In a recent appearance on the "Dubs Talk" podcast, Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area reported that the Marquette alum wants to know what the Warriors' plan is regarding Kuminga, who he reportedly reached out to this offseason.

"That has to be the thoughts of, in my eyes, the three veteran stars, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, Jimmy Butler. In that ESPN article, they mentioned that Draymond and Jimmy have checked in and reached out to Jonathan Kuminga. I can confidently say that Jimmy Butler has also reached out to the team and been like, 'What's going on here? I just wanted to know the plan," Johnson said. "And of course, Steph, Draymond, Jimmy, they're in the loop, I understand that."

Though there is reason to believe this could cause a rift between Butler and the Warriors, Johnson later clarified that this is not the case. Instead, the 36-year-old is still "all in" on Golden State, especially after receiving his two-year, $110.9 million contract extension from the team.

"That’s the hard part about aggregating from a podcast. It’s a conversation. Steph and Draymond 'being in the loop' has always been fair to assume. Same with Jimmy now," Johnson wrote on X. "Jimmy got paid and has been all-in on the Warriors. He’s in the loop, and should want to know the plan."

Regardless, the Warriors are still facing a difficult Kuminga situation, though it is fair to assume that they will find a solution sooner rather than later. Until then, however, many will wonder what the team has in store as they look to return to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2022.
