Jimmy Butler Wants To Be Traded Anywhere But Memphis Grizzlies

According to NBA insider Marc J. Spears on NBA Today, Butler’s trade wish list includes “anywhere but Memphis.”

"I was told today from someone close to the situation that his wish list is just out of Miami with exception to Memphis. He doesn't want to go to Memphis... But he does want to finish his career wherever he goes." 

Butler’s outright refusal to consider the Grizzlies as a destination is puzzling on the surface. Memphis is currently thriving in the Western Conference, sitting at 29-15, good enough for third in the standings. Despite dealing with injuries to key players, they’ve managed to maintain their competitive edge, thanks to Ja Morant, one of the league’s most electrifying stars, and a deep roster filled with talented young players like Jaren Jackson Jr. and Desmond Bane.

Moreover, Memphis has the assets—draft capital and young talent—to put together a compelling trade package for Butler. A deal involving players like Marcus Smart, Luke Kennard, and future first-round picks could be enticing for the Heat. Yet, Butler has explicitly ruled out Memphis as a destination, leaving many to speculate about his reasoning.

According to Windhorst, Butler has made it clear that all other trade destinations are secondary.
