JJ Reddick claims Nikola Jokic’s Nuggets are currently in ‘championship form’ following clutch win over the Timberwolves
Jim Rassol-USA TODAY Sports

Last night, Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets visited the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Nuggets edged a last-minute triumph to return home with a 115-112 crucial away win, thus ending the Timberwolves’ game-winning run.

Jokic showed his MVP credentials with a double-double performance of 35 points, 16 rebounds, and two assists, while Michael Porter Jr. had 26 points, 13 of which came in the fourth quarter alone, four rebounds, and one assist. The T-Wolves star player had 30 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, his fourth straight 30-point game.

After the game, the crew of ESPN’s “First Take” were analyzing the game, and JJ Redick had some exciting things to say regarding the Nuggets, who were fully loaded, taking on an undermanned Timberwolves. The Nuggets have been on fire since the All-Star break.

For me, this was more about the Nuggets. And I'll say this: as a player for 15 years now, I am a fan who watches basketball every night. How many times have we seen a fully loaded team, a very good team, go against an undermanned team, and that undermanned team outperforms expectations... The Denver Nuggets right now are in championship form. Redick stated

Redick isn’t wrong because the Nuggets have roared back to life since the break. Before the break, they lost three games in a row, and since then, they have a record of 12-2. Their last loss resulted from a Kyrie Irving-inspired last-minute left-hand floater.

Jokic leading the Nuggets’ charge for another title

The Denver Nuggets entered the 2024 All-Star break on the back of a three-game losing run following losses to the Sacramento Kings and the Milwaukee Bucks. There was another devastating loss to the Kings after blowing a 16-point lead. But the tide has turned, and the Joker is leading the charge.

Jokic, in the 14 games played since then, has averaged 25.7 points and has moved to the top two in the Western Conference standings; according to former player and ESPN host JJ Redick, they are in “championship form.”

And there’s a strong possibility of a Nuggets-Celtic NBA Finals, which is billed to be more interesting than the preview.

The Nuggets are currently second in the Western Conference standings with a 48-21 record, and their star player averages 26.0 PPG, 12.3 RPG, and 9.0 APG. Next for the Nuggets is a home game against the New York Knicks.
