The 2025–26 season has already exceeded expectations for JJ Redick and the Los Angeles Lakers. In his first season as head coach, Redick led the Lakers to a 50–32 record and the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference. But last year ended in disappointment, as Los Angeles was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs in five games by the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Now in his second season, Redick has the Lakers off to a strong start. The team sits second in the West with a 15-4 record and has won seven straight games, including Sunday’s 133-121 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

However, before taking the Lakers job, Redick spent his post-playing career in the media. He worked as an analyst for ESPN and co-hosted the podcast The Old Man and the Three with producer Tommy Alter. Once he accepted the head coaching role in Los Angeles, he stepped away from podcasting to focus on his coaching responsibilities.

Per ESPN’s Chris Herring, Denver Nuggets forward Cam Johnson is taking over Redick’s former co-hosting role on The Old Man and the Three.

“Some media news: Nuggets sharpshooter Cam Johnson is taking over JJ Redick's former co-hosting role with the popular The Old Man and the Three podcast,” Herring wrote.

The podcast’s official handle confirmed the news shortly afterward on X.

Johnson, a proven NBA shooter who has spent seven seasons in the NBA, brings an on-court perspective to the podcast and will now be tasked with continuing the show’s NBA analysis alongside Alter.

Meanwhile, Redick will remain focused on coaching. The Lakers aim to extend their winning streak to eight games when they face the Phoenix Suns on Monday.
