Joel Embiid listed as questionable for Game 1 vs. Hawks with meniscus tear

The Philadelphia 76ers won their first-round series against the Washington Wizards in five games. Now they're preparing to face Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks in the second round.

However, they might be without one of their best players for Sunday's Game 1.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Joel Embiid is listed as questionable for the series opener against the Hawks with a small meniscus tear. He will go through treatment and a workout to determine his final playing status.

Embiid suffered the injury in Game 4 against the Wizards on Monday. He left late in the first quarter after taking a hard fall on a drive to the basket. The 27-year-old landed hard on his right heel and then fell onto his back.

While speaking to the media on Friday, 76ers head coach Doc Rivers was somewhat optimistic that Embiid would be ready to go for Game 1.

"He's got to go through his treatment," Rivers said, according to ESPN. "As far as when we were doing shooting and stuff like that, he looked great. It's too early [to rule him out]. I don't want to say one way or the other. We'll just find that out."

Embiid was great in the three full games he played against the Wizards, averaging 29.3 points, 2.7 assists and seven rebounds per game while shooting 66.9% from the floor.
