The 76ers made the short trip down I-95 to Delaware for their annual Blue vs. White scrimmage, and fans got what they’ve been waiting months to see.

Joel Embiid was back on the floor, as relayed by Ky Carlin of USA Today.

It marked the reigning MVP’s first public appearance in uniform since Feb. 22, when knee pain forced him to shut things down for the season. Embiid later underwent surgery in April and has been slowly working his way back.

On Sunday, rookie VJ Edgecombe introduced Embiid and the rest of the Blue team to the Delaware crowd. The reaction was loud and emotional, with fans roaring as the big man jogged out and took the court again.

The scrimmage has become an annual fan event for Philadelphia — a casual showcase before preseason wraps up — but this year’s version carried a little extra meaning.

For the Sixers and their fans, seeing Embiid healthy again was highly likely the biggest win of all.
