Jordan Poole Sparks Rumors On Potential Trade To East Contender

There's always a time and place for trade rumors. Even after the trade deadline has lapsed, rumors about where certain players could go always loom. During the Washington Wizards' latest media availability, one of their star's comments seemed to hint at a desire to be traded to a rival team in the conference.

Speaking to reporters during a press conference, Jordan Poole talked about his relationships with some of the Orlando Magic's players. The former Michigan guard said that he has a strong connection with their players, particularly his fellow Michigan alumnus. Poole also said that he worked out with Magic star Paolo Banchero as part of the latter's draft preparations.

The Magic have quite a few players that hail from the University of Michigan. Franz and Moritz Wagner, Jett Howard (son of Michigan coach Juwan Howard), and Caleb Houstan are all former Wolverines like Poole. That connection could spur Poole to want a trade with the Magic, especially since the Magic are a sneaky contender in the East.

Poole still has two years left in his four-year, $120 million contract he signed with the Golden State Warriors before he was traded. This season, Poole is averaging 20.4 points per game on 42.2% shooting from the field. In addition, the Wizards guard is averaging 4.6 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game.

It's a fascinating idea for the Magic, as Poole will be paired with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner for a solid core. In the backcourt, Poole's defensive deficiencies will be mitigated by Jalen Suggs' prowess on that end.
