'Jordan was more like Seinfeld' - Colin Cowherd gushes over LeBron James greatness by comparing him to Law & Order

LeBron James added to his legend on Wednesday when he recorded his third straight triple-double. He became the oldest player in NBA history to accomplish the feat.

Bron's latest accomplishment got FS1's Colin Cowherd gushing over his greatness. Speaking on his show "The Herd," Colin compared LeBron's longevity to an iconic TV series that recently premiered its 24th season in 35 years.

"So LeBron and the Lakers beat Memphis, but it was beyond that," he said. "LeBron had 35 points; he's in year 22. He's shooting 46 percent from three-point land, best of his career—a third straight triple-double. So, Michael Jordan was more like Seinfeld — nine great years, highly impactful, and still discussed today. LeBron's become Law & Order. We're on year 35. I watched an episode two days ago; it still crushes."

People still consider Jordan the GOAT

11 games into the 2024-25 campaign, LeBron is averaging 24.3 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 9.4 assists, leading the Los Angeles Lakers to a 7-4 record. However, despite his unprecedented longevity and an iconic resume that includes being the NBA's all-time scoring leader, James is still considered inferior to Michael Jordan by most.

Jordan played 15 seasons in the NBA and had 10 dominant years where he was the NBA's leading scorer. During that decade, he won six NBA championships with a 6-0 Finals record, six Finals MVP awards, and five NBA MVPs. Many consider him the GOAT over LeBron because of that dominating run.

"Michael was red-hot for about eight to nine years," added Cowherd. "For a nine-year stretch, there was none like him. He's still relevant today. His shoe still outsells LeBron's. But you can't give me this Michael's 6-for-6. If you want to do titles, Russell had 11, and Robert Horry's got more. There's got to be layers and contextualization."

"Stop punishing LeBron for being more successful. Don't be so ring-obsessed. Contextualize stuff. And last night, you watched LeBron 35 points, triple-double third straight game. It's just crazy to me," Colin added.

Cowherd's never been a fan of Mike

Cowherd could have just given LeBron his well-deserved flowers without having to drag Jordan into the conversation. But then again, the FS1 sports analyst has never been a big fan of "His Airness," whom he's potshotted many times in the past with uncalled-for rants.

"So he tried baseball, he failed. He tried ownership, he was awful. He tried the Wizards, it bombed. Everybody understand that take out Scottie Pippen and Phil Jackson; this whole Michael Jordan Mythology is sort of just that," he said.

Ultimately, some people prefer Seinfeld over Law & Order, no matter how great the latter is. That said, there's no denying James is doing something special, and all the fans should appreciate it while it lasts.
