Josh Giddey Wants to Make $30 Million Annually, Chicago Bulls Not Offering That

Josh Giddey wants to make $30 million per year on his next deal, but the Chicago Bulls are not offering that, according to NBA insider Jamal Collier of ESPN.

Giddey will likely have to re-sign with the Bulls on a contract that doesn’t pay him $30 million annually.

“Josh Giddey has been seeking a deal in the $30 million range annually, and the team hasn’t agreed to that price,” Collier wrote. “With cap space scarce across the league, especially for restricted free agents, the Chicago Bulls have benefited from holding out for a more team-friendly deal.”

There are no teams with cap space to sign Giddey to an offer sheet. This has been a tough offseason for Giddey and fellow restricted free agents Jonathan Kuminga, Cam Thomas and Quentin Grimes.

Giddey averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks last season for the Bulls, shooting 46.5% from the field, 37.8% from beyond the arc and 78.1% from the free-throw line. He recorded 30 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles in 70 games.

Chicago acquired Giddey from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Alex Caruso trade. Caruso helped the Thunder win the 2025 championship against the Indiana Pacers in seven games, while Giddey and the Bulls missed the 2025 playoffs.

Giddey turns 23 in October. He has career averages of 14.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks with the Thunder and Bulls.

The Bulls made an offer of $80 million over four years to Giddey when the offseason commenced on June 30. Giddey declined because he wants $30 million per year. The Golden State Warriors are interested in Giddey, but the Bulls will not sign-and-trade the Australian.

Chicago has made the playoffs just once (2022) since trading Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves on draft night in 2016. The franchise is stuck in mediocrity.
