It isn’t a New York Knicks season without a little bit of sideline or studio drama. This time, Josh Hart is the unwitting protagonist in one of Monica McNutt’s most memorable on-air segments

The tension between Hart and MSG’s Monica McNutt reached a hilarious and slightly petty level this week. McNutt had recently been sidelined with a bout of COVID-19. Upon her return to the sidelines, Hart reportedly decided to welcome her back in the most “Josh Hart” way possible. He faked a cough every time he was near her.

The coughing drama came to light when broadcast partner Tyler Murray pointed out that Hart wasn’t just faking the illness to annoy her. The 2025 NBA Cup champion was actually launching cough drops onto the broadcast table.

New York Basketball’s social media handle posted the clip on X (formerly Twitter).

Monica McNutt: “Josh Hart’s being weird. Move out of the way”

Tyler Murray: “Josh was throwing cough drops at Monica”

Monica: “So rude”

Tyler: “Giving you hard time on college basketball”

Monica: “My Hoyas beat their stinky Villanova Wildcats”

McNutt, a proud Georgetown Hoya alumna, didn’t let the drama go unanswered. She used the Hoyas’ Friday night 78-64 win over the Villanova Wildcats in the Big East Tournament to take a dig at Hart, who’s a former Villanova Wildcat.

Hart has made the Knicks locker room a virtual campus for Villanova culture alongside Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges. However, with Georgetown pulling off a rare victory over the Wildcats this season, McNutt now has the bragging rights in MSG.

Josh Hart Injury Update Might Disappoint Knicks Fans

The New York Knicks received some concerning news ahead of their road matchup with the Indiana Pacers, as starting guard Josh Hart has been downgraded to doubtful due to soreness in his left knee.

Hart was initially listed as questionable on the injury report, but the team later shifted his status to doubtful shortly before tipoff. According to Steve Popper of Newsday, NY downgraded both Hart and teammate Karl-Anthony Towns ahead of the game in Indiana.

Hart’s possible absence would create a significant gap in the Knicks’ rotation. The versatile guard has been one of the team’s most consistent all-around contributors this season, averaging 11.8 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists across 54 games.

The Knicks guard often plays a crucial role in helping New York control possessions and generate second-chance opportunities. The 29-year-old, a former Villanova Wildcats men’s basketball standout and the 30th overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, has developed into one of the league’s most versatile guards.
