Karl-Anthony Towns Hesitates to Answer Injury Question After Knicks-Celtics

It wasn't sunshine and rainbows as the New York Knicks hosted the Boston Celtics for Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

After securing a 2-0 series lead in Boston -- doing so in theatric fashion -- the Knicks, simply put, couldn't maintain the cadence of coming back from down 20 points.

The Celtics jumped on the Knicks again, though there was no comeback in place for New York.

It was a 71-46 game by the break, with the Knicks having dug a hole too deep in Madison Square Garden. They eventually suffered a 115-93 loss.

Outside of Jalen Brunson's 27-point performance, the Knicks didn't get much from their squad. On paper, Karl-Anthony Towns put together a 21-point, 15-rebound performance, though he shot just 5-of-16 from the field.

This didn't bode well considering the Celtics' ability to put together a well-rounded performance.

At one point, Towns was grimacing in pain, holding his hand. Had he broken a bone? What was the injury like there? Towns didn't want to answer after the game.

“It is what it is,” Towns responded. “I'm gonna keep finding ways to play, so I ain't tripping.”

Did he undergo X-rays?

“I’ma let them tell you that," Towns insisted.

So, simply put, Towns hesitated to answer anything regarding his injury, other than expressing his intention to remain on the hardwood.

The Kentucky product is essential to the club's success. He's Brunson's co-star.

With him dealing with an injury, New York is going to have to get creative offensively to take on a defense like the Celtics, though Tom Thibodeau isn't exactly known for offensive creativity.

Whether or not Towns has a broken hand, it seemed an injury was there -- and that can certainly be an issue for the Knicks, who lead the Celtics 2-1.
