Kawhi Leonard was out of action for the Los Angeles Clippers in their last game. With their superstar sidelined, L.A. suffered a 94-88 defeat against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday. That marked the Clippers’ third straight defeat. They are 1-3 since returning from the All-Star break.

Leonard was unable to play on Thursday due to an ankle injury. The 6-foot-6 forward then proceeded to miss practice on Saturday. Apart from a sore left ankle, Leonard is reportedly also nursing an illness. The Clippers ruled him out for Saturday’s contest against the New Orleans Pelicans.

These developments cast serious doubt on Leonard’s status for L.A.’s next game.

After taking on the Pelicans on Saturday, the Clippers will be back in action on Sunday in the second night of a back-to-back set. They will be on the road to face the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center.

The Clippers have already released their initial injury report for the Warriors game. The good news is that Leonard was not listed on the report. This means that the 34-year-old is set to play Sunday against Golden State.

It is worth noting that the Clippers initially indicated that Leonard was questionable for the Warriors game. Either way, barring any unforeseen setbacks, the seven-time All-Star should be good to go against Golden State.

Leonard has played 44 games for the Clippers this season. The two-time Defensive Player of the Year is averaging 28.0 points on 49.4% shooting, 6.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.0 steals in 32.8 minutes per game. Leonard is also knocking down 2.7 triples per contest on a highly efficient 38.1% clip.

The Clippers enter Saturday’s matchup against New Orleans with a 27-31 record. They remain 10th in the Western Conference, occupying the last play-in spot.
