The Los Angeles Clippers fell in a 120-101 loss in Game 7 of their first-round series against the Denver Nuggets, being eliminated from the 2025 NBA playoffs despite holding 2-1 and 3-2 leads.
Despite many encouraging signs, the Clippers shrank when the lights were at their brightest and will head into an uncertain offseason.
The Clippers can't blame injuries this time around, as Kawhi Leonard and James Harden both played all seven games without limitations. Despite that, the star duo will have to accept a second straight first-round exit.
That begs the question: What's next for this duo?
Kawhi was asked the same in his postgame press conference, sharing a message rife with uncertainty about his future.
“I don’t know right now," Leonard said. "I guess we’re still playing at a high level, in a sense. But that’s a hard question to answer right now.”
Kawhi Leonard was asked what gives him encouragement that he and James Harden can build on what they did this season:

It's clear Leonard hasn't given any thought to what's next. Although his wanting to leave the Clippers is unlikely, it seems having Harden as his primary co-star will create issues in any playoff run together.
Leonard averaged 25.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.7 assists in this series. He didn't look like a world-beater either, unable to perform at a superstar level when the Clippers needed him most. Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook exacted his revenge in Game 7 against a helpless Clippers defense.
With limited avenues for improving the roster without making major trades, Leonard's indecision about addressing his future could spur the Clippers to find suitable co-stars for him, if not a suitable destination.
