Kawhi Leonard's Shocking Clutch Stats This Season Revealed
USA TODAY Sports

Kawhi Leonard and the LA Clippers have not been a good clutch team this season. In all honesty, not good is an understatement, they've been legitimately awful.

This season, the LA Clippers are an atrocious 2-7 in clutch-time wins. The only teams worse than them are the Detroit Pistons and Washington Wizards, the two worst teams in the Eastern Conference.

When it comes to Kawhi Leonard in the clutch specifically, he's the worst on the team. In 33 clutch minutes, Kawhi is shooting 5/23 (21%) from the field, and 2/10 (20%) from three. All of this accumulated to only 18 points on 21% shooting and being a team-worst -19 on the Clippers.

Paul George hasn't been much better than Kawhi Leonard in the clutch either. In 28 minutes, he's shooting 4/12 from the field and 2/8 from three. The only saving grace about George's minutes in the clutch is that he's shooting 15/16 from the free-throw line. Regardless, he also has a 2-7 record in the clutch and is a -12.

As much as critics want to blame Ty Lue, James Harden, or Russell Westbrook for the Clippers' losses, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have to be better. The two best players on the team can't be two of the worst clutch performers on the team. Solve that problem, and the Clippers solve the problem of losing disappointing games.
