When it comes to interacting with the fans, no one does it better than NBA veteran Kevin Durant. In the past, there were many former players like Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley who have been praised by the fans numerous times. But Durant is on a whole new level. He is someone who never shies away from speaking his mind with the fans, whether they are praising him or speaking negatively about him.
The NBA veteran listens and engages with everyone and anyone who has a point to prove or a thought if he or she wants to weigh in on. Notably, on Thursday morning, Durant was active on social media. In a conversation with a fan, he pointed out that although recent players like LeBron James and Durant are bigger, faster, and stronger than their predecessors, they are still not able to play all 82 games in their NBA schedule.
The fan has a point here, as James was seen several times addressing this news this past season. Durant did not keep quiet either, responding to the fan in a way that attracted the NBA fanbase.
Yeah they say they bigger strong and faster today .@KDTrey5 and @KingJames how many 82 game season have yall played in yall career

The games faster nowadays, more running, more stress on your ligaments. It’s called evolution, the fans of the nba have yet to grasp that concept

The NBA veteran has a point here, as the game has changed compared to what it was during the legendary Michael Jordan era. Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 62 games during the previous season. When he was playing, the Phoenix Suns were on track to qualify for the playoffs, so everyone is hoping he can play in more than 65 games for the Houston Rockets this season.
Although James has a better record of keeping healthy than Durant, both players are expected to play 70 games or fewer in the upcoming season. In order to compete for a championship when it counts most, they will hope to be able to handle their workload while playing on a playoff squad.
Injuries are part and parcel of the game, but recently, this past NBA season, many players were left hampered by the Achilles injury. But the one who has the most experience dealing with that on and off the court is none other than former NBA veteran Kevin Durant. Durant recently sat down on the Mind the Game podcast with LeBron James to speak about the significance of the Achilles injury.
Your game and your body is going for sure change. When you tear your Achilles, your calf muscle goes to nothing. You sit around for three months and you can’t move your calf… So that’s most of the work is getting that calf back. You have to get it bigger and stronger.
Kevin Durant said
Many players like Jayson Tatum, Tyrese Haliburton , and Damian Lillard suffered an Achilles injury last season. However, Durant singled out Tatum to explain the process of recovery for the Boston Celtics star.
So far, Tatum’s journey to rehabilitation has been going well. Even though Tatum has been playing well, Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant stated that this is just the beginning for him as the two-month mark draws near.
The Kevin Durant trade deal was all over the news this NBA offseason before the Suns finally decided to trade him to the Rockets. Now, the Suns’ GM, Brian Gregory, explained the reasoning behind Phoenix’s final Durant trade decision.
We were in contact with Kevin and his team the whole time. The No. 1 goal is to find a way to bring in the valuable pieces that would help us continue to move forward in the right direction.
Brian Gregory told the Suns’ reporter
I asked Brian Gregory about timing of trading for Mark Williams and then drafting Khaman Maluach: "We were very poor protecting the rim last year. Now you should be able to have a full game where there's protection of the rim….To get both those guys, we weren't passing that up" pic.twitter.com/U2IcUFho4T

The Suns and Durant were going in different directions, and Phoenix believed that the Rockets’ offer was the best way to get back into the running since they wanted to restructure their roster around Devin Booker. It will be interesting to watch who ends up getting the better deal in a few months.
