Kevin Durant Reacts to New Announcement on Monday

Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns saw their 2024-25 NBA season end early after missing out on the playoffs entirely.

Still, Durant has established himself among the NBA greats over his 17 seasons, becoming one of the league's best scorers of all time with a career average of 27.2 points per game.

But Durant, 36, has started to enter the tail end of his career, and with Phoenix unable to contend for a championship, it seems the former Texas star prefers to look elsewhere. Durant apparently has his sights set on three teams: the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and the Houston Rockets.

Amid all the trade drama for Durant, his "brother," Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin, received some big news of his own, becoming the June Cover Story for Boardroom.

Boardroom announced the news on Instagram.

"You see Michael Rubin courtside, at the exclusive parties, and in every room that matters. But that’s just noise. His real obsession? Fanatics—the empire he’s built into an absolute powerhouse. For our June Cover Story, Rubin opens up on the billion-dollar bets, the Ls (yep, including NFTs), and the mindset that keeps him moving."

Durant reacted to the news by reposting it on his Instagram Story with the caption, "MY BROTHER @MICHAELRUBIN."

Boardroom, the sports media company founded by Durant and Rich Kleiman, partnered with Rubin and Fanatics back in February. The companies launched Chapter: Next, a development platform created for athletes and their support staff.

"We are thrilled to be partnering with Rich, KD and the entire team at Boardroom to reimagine and elevate Fanatics’ athlete development efforts,” Rubin said in a statement.

No matter which team Durant plays for next season, it will still likely be getting one of the top talents in the NBA. In 2024-25, he averaged 26.6 points on 52.7% shooting, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
