Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant has had one of the most unique career paths for a megastar that the NBA has ever seen. He started his career with the Seattle Supersonics, who became the Oklahoma City Thunder just a year later.
He would spend the next eight seasons there with point guard Russell Westbrook before leaving to team up with Stephen Curry on the Golden State Warriors.
Over the last six years he has added the Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns and now the Houston Rockets to his list of teams.
Due to the rapid movement Durant has shown in the last decade of his career, people were skeptical as to whether he would stay in Houston.
Nothing is set in stone yet, but Durant gave an update on his long-term future with the team during the Rockets’ media day, telling reporters, “I do see myself signing a contract extension. I can’t tell you exactly when that will happen, but I do see it happening.”

Houston made the trade for the two-time champion earlier this offseason, sending out guard Jalen Green and forward Dillon Brooks to the Suns in the process.
Brooks’ presence will obviously be missed on the defensive end, but the Rockets were lauded for getting Durant without giving up any core pieces.
Houston’s roster is extremely young, but after taking a Warriors team led by Curry and forwards Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green to seven games in the playoffs, people around the league think they are ready to contend now.

It seemed unfeasible with the former version of the roster, but adding Durant will give them the superstar and high-powered scoring punch that they need to win.
Even if they don’t get the job done this season, Durant’s comments mean they should have more opportunities in the future.
