Kevin Durant Says Houston Rockets Are ‘Pissed Off’ About 0-2 Start

Kevin Durant and the Houston Rockets have started the season 0-2.

The Rockets lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder on opening night and fell to the Detroit Pistons in Game 2.

“Coaching staff is pissed off,” Kevin Durant said after the Rockets lost to the Pistons. “Players are pissed off. We want a better outcome and it’s early too. So for us to feel that way, I like that kind of energy.”

The Rockets are expected to compete for the championship this season after acquiring Durant from the Phoenix Suns in the offseason. Ime Udoka’s group made the playoffs last season for the first time since 2020, losing to the Golden State Warriors in the first round in seven games.

One of the best players in NBA history, Durant won back-to-back championships and Finals MVPs with the Warriors in 2017 and 2018. He’s won only two playoff series since leaving Golden State for the Brooklyn Nets in 2019.

“Offensively, the last two games haven’t been what we want it to be,” Durant said. “But it was always gonna be a work in progress and we’re gonna get better from it. Tough two losses.”

Durant is averaging 30.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists through the first two games of the season. The NBA legend is shooting 52.9% from the field, 42.9% from beyond the arc and 87.5% from the free-throw line.

The Rockets host Durant’s old team, the Nets, in their next game. Houston should win that contest since Brooklyn is in rebuild mode.
