Kevin Durant has been one of the biggest stars in the NBA for nearly 20 years. However, while he has had plenty of success on the court, including two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors, Durant has been criticized for how much he has moved around in his career. With his recent trade to the Houston Rockets, Durant is joining his fifth NBA franchise.
On Tuesday, Kevin Durant appeared on a new episode of the "Mind the Game" podcast hosted by LeBron James and Steve Nash. In the episode, KD opened up about his time with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
"I think we exceeded expectations with that team and when you reach the finals and you go through a run like that so quick, I don't think a GM or owner was ready for that. You sped up the timeline on all of us. Each individual player. My theory is they weren't exactly ready for us to be contenders every year.
"I just think they were kinda shocked at how good we got so fast. Sometimes you get confused. On top of that, Sam Presti was 30 something years old. Everybody was young, trying to figure stuff out. It was too fast. We were ahead of our time."
That Oklahoma City team never went on to make another NBA Finals run. Harden was traded in 2012 and KD left in 2016.
Before his NBA career started, Kevin Durant was a star for the Texas Longhorns.
