Kevin Durant Sends Message to OKC Thunder After Championship

While Durant’s trade stole the headlines, the Thunder prepared to try and win a championship in front of their home crowd in Game 7 and that is exactly what they were able to do.

The Pacers were able to keep pace with the Thunder in the first half but after Tyrese Haliburton went down with an Achilles injury in the first quarter, Indiana struggled in the second half.

This led to Oklahoma City being able to take complete control of the game, especially on the defensive side, as they capped off their dominant season with a championship.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the way for the Thunder in Game 7 with 29 points, five rebounds and 12 assists en route to being named Finals MVP.

After their victory in Game 7, Durant took to social media where he congratulated the Thunder on their championship.

“Lil Hartenstein is slumped, congrats OKC,” Durant posted on X.

Of course, Durant pointed out Isaiah Hartenstein’s baby as he was asleep during his father’s interview during the trophy presentation.

This was a great move by Durant, who ended his tenure with the Thunder on a sour note after choosing to leave and join the Golden State Warriors during their dynasty in 2016.

Durant did help Oklahoma City reach the NBA Finals once during his time with the franchise as he, Russell Westbrook and James Harden led the Thunder against the Miami Heat in the 2012 Finals, though they eventually lost.

Despite this, Durant was a huge part of Oklahoma City’s franchise and he made sure to congratulate them after winning the title on Sunday night.
