Kevin Durant Set Another NBA Record (but it's Not What You Think!)
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

It would be uncontroversial to suggest that Kevin Durant has built a monolithic reputation for putting up huge numbers. One of the true unicorns of the hardwood, perhaps no one standing virtually seven feet tall has been such a multifaceted threat on both ends of an NBA court for as long as the Slim Reaper.

And on Sunday, KD added yet another facet without even having to lace up his signature Nike kicks.

Days removed from news that the Phoenix Suns had traded Durant to the Houston Rockets, subsequent reporting has confirmed that the Texas Longhorns alum and celebrated son of Prince George's County, Maryland had set one more record:

As Fred Katz of The Athletic confirmed Sunday amid a previous flurry of rumors, the Kevin Durant Rockets trade did not simply involve two teams, but seven.

In the eight-decade history of the league, that's never once happened before.

Let's take a closer look at the unprecedented number of moving parts. Scroll down for all the historic details of the Suns-Rockets Durant trade.

Kevin Durant Trade Details

All Durant trade details are as noted by ESPN's Tim Bontemps.

TEAMS INVOLVED:

  • Atlanta Hawks
  • Brooklyn Nets
  • Golden State Warriors
  • Houston Rockets
  • Los Angeles Lakers
  • Minnesota Timberwolves
  • Phoenix Suns

PLAYERS INVOLVED:

OTHER ASSETS INVOLVED:

  • Rockets' 2025 first-round pick (No. 10 overall, Suns selected Khaman Maluach)
  • 12 second-round picks
  • Rockets sent second-round pick swap and cash to the Hawks

Technically speaking, these details were all previously reported in some manner or another, but there's a whole lot less red tape and bureaucracy involved when you can roll a ton of deals into one.

Et voila! The first seven-team trade in NBA history.

As if hoop fans didn't already know, whenever the Easy Money Sniper is involved, things are anything but ho-hum.
