PHOENIX — The Phoenix Suns won’t see a reunion with forward Kevin Durant when the team takes on the Houston Rockets on Monday night.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Durant will miss the Rockets’ next two games due to a family matter, including the one against Phoenix.
After a fallout between some in the Valley and the former Suns forward during the offseason, and a trade that sent him to Texas, many around the NBA world were anticipating the reaction once Durant stepped onto the court at Mortgage Matchup Center.
Now, fans are hoping his absence is nothing serious and have sent best wishes, noting the rarity of Durant missing games.
Sucks to not see the Kevin Durant return in Phoenix. However, some things are bigger than basketball.
Hope everything is okay with his family. https://t.co/MxR9YGfeWI

We can have fun with rivalries and hoops here but nothing funny about this.
KD is a truly dedicated family guy and I truly hope everything is alright and he gets to return to the game he loves soon. https://t.co/PIbmZ69zss

Durant was once part of the Suns’ “Big Three” alongside Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. While the trio didn’t see playoff success together, Durant’s time in the desert left a mark, as the basketball star had hoped to bring his championship experience to Phoenix and contend for a title.
During his time with the Suns, Durant averaged 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 4.6 assists.
With or without Durant scheduled to play, the Suns’ goal remains the same: continue building chemistry and extend their hot streak.
Following Sunday’s win over the San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix is on a three-game win streak and has gone 8-1 over its last nine games. The roster is meshing better than many analysts expected, even amid key injuries.
Durant’s absence will be felt, but the Suns will need to move forward and maintain their winning surge.
Monday’s game will still be must-see as Phoenix looks to stretch its streak to four straight wins against the Houston Rockets on Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
