Kevin Garnett had a perfect reaction to Victor Wembanyama’s season debut for the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

Wembanyama scored 40 points on 15/21 shooting and added 15 rebounds in his Spurs’ 125-92 win over the Dallas Mavericks. Wemby completely dominated the game and was showcasing some of the physicality he has added to his game.

Garnett saw the game and reacted with a simple word that said it all: “WemVP,” he wrote on X, utilizing a play on words.

This is Wembanyama’s third season in the NBA, and he’s making it clear that he wants to be part of the MVP conversation. Garnett wasted no time kicking off that talk, utilizing a well-branded campaign.

What is Kevin Garnett’s tie to Victor Wembanyama?

Some people may be wondering why Garnett would be tooting the Wemby-for-MVP horn already. Wemby trained with Garnett over the summer. Their training together focused more on the leadership and on-court behavior component to basketball. Wembanyama seemingly benefitted from hearing about Garnett’s fiery mentality that made the Big Ticket such a good player.

The hype machine is in full effect for Wemby, but the Spurs big man is showing that he is worth it.
