Kevin Garnett Plans to Name Future Son After NBA Legend
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

On a recent episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show, Kevin Garnett expressed his admiration for Kobe Bryant. In 2020, Bryant tragically passed away in a helicopter crash.

Both Hall of Famers were drafted into the NBA during the mid-1990s. They competed against each other in two high-profile NBA Finals series, with Garnett representing the Boston Celtics and Bryant captaining the Los Angeles Lakers.

Garnett plans to name his future son after the Lakers icon.

“I miss Kobe every day, man,” Garnett said. “We celebrate him like he's still alive and I love that… When I have another son someday, I don't know when and where, but I'm going to dedicate a son to Kobe.”

The former Celtics forward reflected on his interactions with Bryant during the beginning of their playing careers.

“When I actually met Kobe he was a real kid,” Garnett said. “We were both kids. I saw when he was nervous, when he was a human being, and when we would cry … We were gullible about [the NBA] and we wanted it so bad. That was my bro.”
