The Detroit Pistons have been the most surprising team in the East thus far, as they sit in 1st place with a 17-5 record.

Many people had the Pistons as a play-in team coming into the season.

Another team that has caught a lot of people’s attention is the Toronto Raptors, who are in 3rd place in the East.

The Raptors were projected to miss the play-in by many people and they are 14-7 to start the year.

“The Raptors, they look like they can do something,” Paul Pierce said on Ticket & Truth.

“Can Detroit [Pistons] or Toronto [Raptors] really come out of the East?” Pierce asked.

Kevin Garnett said: “They can bro.”

The Eastern Conference will feature a lot of parity

Unlike the Western Conference, which sees the Oklahoma City Thunder as the undisputed favorite to make the NBA Finals this season, the East is anyone’s for the taking.

A team like the Raptors or Pistons can shock everyone and run the table in the East. Or a team like the Miami Heat or Atlanta Hawks can get hot and make a run.

The Orlando Magic have the talent to make some noise and don’t forget about the Boston Celtics, who are dangerously looming.

As of right now, most people would probably say the Knicks have the best chance to come out of the East, but the field might end up proving that prediction wrong.
