Kevin Garnett’s Celtics Number Retired In A Perfect Spot

As pointed out by many Boston fans, Garnett’s number is hanging right next to Paul Pierce‘s number 34, meaning the two friends will forever sit side by side in TD Garden.

This is a suitable place for Garnett’s number since he and Pierce were huge parts of a major chapter in the team’s history.

The retirement of his number is a good time to look back on the career of Garnett and recognize how important he has been for the league.

Of course, he helped lead the Celtics to a championship in 2008 but he has other incredible stats too.

He was voted MVP back in 2004 and was an All-Star for 15 seasons, as well as an All-Star Game MVP.

He was selected as NBA Defensive Player of the Year and was a four-time rebounding champion too.

Garnett ended his career with 26,071 points, averaging 17.8 a game and 14,662 rebounds (10 per game).

But of course, Garnett is well known for his larger-than-life, in-your-face personality too.

The guy has a lot of personality, just like Pierce.

Together, Garnett and Pierce were a vital part of the Boston team in the 2000s.

Not only did they lead the team to a Finals victory, but they also did so with a lot of attitude and memorable moments.

Fans loved them and those rooting against them loved to hate them.

It only makes sense that their numbers remain together now that they’ve both been retired.
