The Miami Heat have had an up and down season.
After losing three games in a row, the Miami Heat have strung together four consecutive wins with their latest victory over the No. 1 seed Detroit Pistons.
Norman Powell exploded for 36 points as four Heat players finished the game in double-figures.
The Heat have proven they are a competitive team and could end up being a playoff squad, but they are still lacking a true superstar, who can help them get over the top.
The Heat traded Jimmy Butler at last season’s trade deadline, which marked the end of an era.
With Butler, the Heat were viewed as a legitimate playoff threat and made the NBA Finals twice during his tenure, but failed to get the job done.
Prior to Butler, the last superstar the Heat had was LeBron James as he, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh won multiple titles.
The Heat are in search of another top superstar. According to Kevin O’Connor, he believes the Heat will become a top destination for a star once again in 2026.
“The Heat become a top destination for a star once again.
“If you look at this roster, it feels like they just need a star. They have everything else.
“They have front court versatility in Bam and Ware.
“Bam again has been great defensively and deserves 1st team defense and DPOY conversation. Jaquez has taken a big leap.
“They’re just missing a star.”
The Heat could be eyeing a big Giannis Antetokounmpo trade as both sides have been linked to each other over the last few weeks.
The Bucks haven’t had any desire to trade Antetokounmpo, but if the Bucks keep losing, Giannis could ask out.
Pat Riley is calculated when it comes to making a big splash and this could be the move he’s been waiting for.
The Heat could put together a competitive offer for Giannis and provide him with the big market Giannis desires.
If it isn’t Giannis, some other stars the Heat could target are Anthony Davis, Ja Morant or Trae Young.
